What is a .ptf file and how do I open it?

Downloaded a file ending in .ptf and not sure what it is? Here's the short version.

A .ptf is a PathTutorial file

A .ptf (PathTutorial File) is an interactive, step-by-step tutorial. Instead of a document you read, it's a guide that runs on your own screen: it points an arrow at the real button, reads each step aloud, and waits until you've done it before moving on.

How to open a .ptf file

You open a .ptf in the free PathTutorial Player for Windows. Install the Player once, and after that you can simply double-click any .ptf file to run it. Press Start, and follow the arrow.

Where do .ptf files come from?

You can download ready-made tutorials from the library, or create your own by describing a task to the PathTutorial assistant (or your own ChatGPT / Claude). Either way, you get a .ptf you open in the Player.
